Sugar Cookie Bars
Posted: April 6, 2009 | Author: lovestoeat | Filed under: Bars-dessert and cookie, Cookies, Dessert, Holiday Recipe, Quick |5 Comments »I love sugar cookies, but they always take so long with chilling the dough, rolling it, and cutting it out, that I dont make them other than at holiday times. When I saw this recipe on My baking addiction site, I knew I had to try these bars. WOW they were so simple to make and taste just like a sugar cookie, only better because they are thicker and so much easier to make! Definitely try these bars!
ENJOY!

Ingredients:
1 cup butter; room temperature
2 cups sugar
4 eggs
2 tsp vanilla
5 cups flour
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking soda
Directions:
Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing after each egg. Add vanilla & mix well. In a separate bowl combine flour, salt & soda & stir with a whisk to combine. Add to wet mixture and mix just until combined. Spread on a greased baking sheet (use a 13 x 18 pan).
I posted these today too! Yours are very cute. I think I’m going to make them again for Easter but then cut them with a cookie cutter after they’ve cooled so they’re basically thick cookies (and scraps to snack on!)
So festive and cute!
I keep seeing these pop up in my reader and they look SO GOOD!
Tried these Sunday evening. They were GREAT!! Soft and full of flavor. Froze half the tray (after cooking) for that snack attack.
Used this recipe from Hershey”s for frosting:
FUDGE FROSTING

1/3 cup HERSHEY’S Cocoa
1-1/3 cups powdered sugar
2 to 3 tablespoons milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
melt butter, add cocoa, and bring to boil. stir in sugar and milk. then add vanilla.
