Clean eating salsa burgers

A fantastic twist on an old favorite, burgers..Adding the salsa gave great moisture and huge flavor to the burger. Topped with the avocado mix and cheese, these were perfect! Another hit from Clean Eating Magazine this month!!

ENJOY!

Ingredients:
1 lbs 95% lean or leaner ground beef, chicken or turkey meat
1/3 cup fresh pico or tomato salsa
1/4 tsp. sea salt
1/4 tsp fresh gr pepper
1 small avocado roughly chopped
1/4 red bell pepper, finely chopped
3 tbsp cilantro, chopped-I omitted as we dont like cilantro
2 tsp fresh lime juice
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/2 cup nonfat plain greek yogurt-optional
multi grain buns
toppings-we used lf provolone cheese, mixed greens and tomatoes

Directions:
In a bowl, mix meat, and salsa and season with s and p. Mix well and form into patties. Grill or broil until doneness preferred.
While cooking mix avocado, pepper, cilantro, lime juice, garlic powder, s and p and combine well.
To serve, spread greek yogurt on bottom bun. Top with burger, avocado mixture and desired toppings. Serve immediately.

  2. Salsa in a patty… what a concept! I will have to try this next time I make bean patties!
