Jack BurgersPosted: June 18, 2010
Ahh the summer grilling season is here..this is a great, easy burger to add variety to your normal burger routine. Great clean eating recipe that is not only easy to make, healthy, but delicious! We grilled ours but I included the original recipe below where they used a skillet. Grilling was perfect!
Evoo cooking spray
1 lbs. extra-lean gr. turkey breast, gr beef or gr chicken
1 1/2 tsp chile powder
1/4 tsp sea salt
2 oz. reduced-fat pepper jack cheese or Monterey jack cheese, sliced
4 Romaine lettuce leaves, stems removed
2/3 cups fresh mango salsa or store bought
4 sprouted-grain hamburger buns
Mist a large skillet with cooking spray and preheat to medium. In a large bowl, combine meat, chile powder and salt. Shape mixture into 4 equal patties, 1/2 inch thick. Add patties to skillet and cook until undersides are deep golden brown, 4 to 5 minutes. Flip and place quarter of cheese on each burger. Continue cooking until undersides are browned and patties are firm to the touch, 4 to 5 minutes more.
Serve with buns, lettuce, mango salsa and patty.
